Best San Francisco Italian Restaurants

In this section, you'll find recommendations for the best San Francisco Italian Restaurants including the North Beach Restaurant, The Stinking Rose and more.

There is a number of great Italian restaurants San Francisco. The North Beach area has a number of them, but there are a lot of great ones throughout the city.

Here is a list of just some of my favorite San Francisco Italian restaurants.

The North Beach Restaurant

I'll start with the one that everyone seems to ask about, the North Beach Restaurant in North Beach. It's one of the most popular Italian Restaurants in San Francisco.

The North Beach Restaurant is located on Stockton Street and Columbus Avenue. It's one of the first Italian restaurants I visited when I first moved to San Francisco.

They have a number of great items on their menu. It's also a little pricey, so expect to spend at least $50 per person (plus wine!). This is one of the San Francisco Italian restaurants that is easy to get to and is a quick cab ride from either Fisherman's Wharf or Union Square. The ride should only cost you around $10 to $12 from either location.

The North Beach Restaurant also has valet parking. If you decide to drive, you can either valet park your car or find parking at one of the parking lots close by. There are a couple of small lots on Vallejo Street, which is just a few blocks away from the restaurant.

Luisa's

Luisa's is a great little Italian restaurant in the Marina District in San Francisco. I just recently ate here and loved everything I tried.

I would have to say that I had two favorites. One is the Ravioli Della Casa, which is a wonderful Ravioli with Ricotta cheese in an aurora sauce. The Ravioli was really fresh and the dish was very flavorful.

The second thing I tried that I really liked was their Red Snapper. If you are looking for a non-pasta dish, I'd recommend the Red Snapper. It was very light, yet delicious.

Luisa's is located on Union Street between Octavia and Laguna Streets. It's a small place, so I'd highly recommend making a reservation first.

Jackson Fillmore

Jackson Fillmore is another one of my favorite San Francisco Italian restaurants. It's located on Fillmore Street at Jackson Street in the Pacific Heights district in San Francisco.

This is another small, local Italian restaurant that is a favorite of many of the locals. I've been here a few times and always leave smiling.

You can either make a reservation for a table (highly recommended!) or wait for an opening at their bar. The food is great and the price is right, usually around $30 or less per person (plus wine!).

There is street parking in this neighborhood, although you may need to walk a few blocks to the restaurant. Cabs and the bus are also options.

A cab from Union Square is around $20 and from Fisherman's Wharf, probably around $15. The 3 bus drops off right across the street which you can pick up in Union Square.

The Stinking Rose

If you are looking for a fun, funky experience, then I recommend the Stinking Rose. This is one of the San Francisco Italian restaurants that is really popular with tourists.

I've also been here a number of times and like to stop by when I have visitors from out of town.

The restaurant is named after the number of dishes on the menu that are swimming in garlic. I think there are several references to "having a little food with your garlic."

They have great food, at a really great price. I also highly recommend it to those that love garlic!

The Stinking Rose is located right on Columbus Street near Broadway Street in North Beach.

Parking on Columbus Street is tough, so I'd recommend taking a cab or the bus. If you do decide to drive, there are a few parking lots on Vallejo Street between Stockton and Powell. The walk from these lots is only a couple of blocks.

These are just some of the great San Francisco Italian restaurants and are just some of my favorites. Here are some other restaurant recommendations:
