San Francisco Wine Bar Recommendations

Get recommendations for the top San Francisco wine bar locations including EOS Wine Bar, SNOB Wine Bar and more. I love wine tasting in San Francisco.

Fortunately, there are a number of great wine bars in San Francisco. Here are just a few of my favorites that I think you will also enjoy.

The Wine Merchant San Francisco

The Wine Merchant San Francisco is one of my favorite San Francisco wine bar options. It's located in the Ferry Building on the Embarcadero waterfront in the city.

The great thing about the Wine Merchant is that they have a number of great wines to choose from. They feature about 20 different wines by the glass on their wine tasting menu.

The wines are from all over the world and the menu changes frequently. You can also purchase half bottles and full bottles from the menu. You can even take it one step further and purchase a bottle of wine in the store to drink in their lounge area ($6 corkage fee applies to all bottles purchased in the store).

I love the atmosphere at the Wine Merchant. You can look out over the crowds shopping while you enjoy your wine. You can also stop by another merchant to pick up some bread and cheese to go with your wine that night.

The Wine Merchant is open until 8pm most nights, 9pm on Thursdays and 7pm on Sundays.

Press Club

The Press Club is a new wine bar in town. It's located on Yerba Buena Lane between Mission and Market Streets, right next to the Four Seasons hotel.

The Press Club San Francisco features wines from just six Northern California wineries. Each winery has their own tasting area where you can learn even more about the winery and their wines.

This is a unique wine tasting experience in San Francisco. It's a more intimate setting. It also really showcases the great wineries at this San Francisco wine bar.

Amelie Wine Bar San Francisco

Amelie Wine Bar is another one of my favorites. This San Francisco wine bar is located on Polk Street near Washington Street.

It's another fairly new wine bar in San Francisco and is one of the most popular. It has a large wine selection of over 50 different wines.

They also have a number of fun flights for you to try such as the Movie Flight. If you are hungry, you can check out their tasty small plates menu.

We usually get the bread and cheese plate and ask them to select the right cheese to pair with our wines. They haven't let us down yet! They are open every night at 5:30pm and stay open until 2am.

The Pour House Wine Bar

The Pour House is another one of my favorite San Francisco wine bars. This wine bar features some great wines from around the world.

This is also a fairly new San Francisco wine bar. It's also located on Polk Street between Bush and Pine Streets.

They offer around 40 different wines by the glass. They also offer many more by the bottle. The people that work at The Pour House are very knowledgeable about their wines and are always happy to answer any questions.

They will also pick out a great wine for you based on what type of wine you enjoy. It's always fun to have someone else pick a great wine for you.

They have fun wine tasting events every other Wednesday night. The tastings usually occur from 7 – 9pm and always feature a flight of wines from around the world. It's another great way to learn more about different types of wines and try something you've never tasted before.

EOS Wine Bar and Restaurant

EOS Wine Bar is one of the most popular wine bars in San Francisco. This one is quite a ways off the beaten path in the Cole Valley neighborhood. EOS is both a restaurant and bar.

The bar, or wine salon as they call it, is located through a separate entrance to the side of the restaurant. It's a small bar, but has a number of great wines.

They feature about 20 to 25 different wines by the glass. They also offer a couple of great flights that allow you to try a variety of wines during your visit.

Wine by the bottle is another option for your evening in the wine salon. EOS is located at 901 Cole Street at Carl. You can either take the N Muni line or a taxi to get to Cole Valley.

If you love wine, than heading to EOS is worth the trip!

Nectar in the Marina

Another popular San Francisco wine bar is Nectar Wine Bar in the Marina District. This wine bar is located at 3330 Steiner Street, right north of Lombard Street.

This wine bar has a very upbeat atmosphere. They feature around 50 different wines both by the glass and by the bottle.

Nectar also has a pretty large menu, so you can enjoy just a glass of wine or stay for dinner. The chef and sommeliers work together to mix and match the wine and food just right.

It's also easy to get to Nectar by taking a cab from your hotel. Parking in this neighborhood is a little tricky, so a cab or bus is your best option.
