San Francisco Fine Dining Recommendations

In this section, find recommendations for San Francisco fine dining including Union Square restaurants, San Francisco seafood restaurants and many more.

This section includes insider information on some of the best restaurants in San Francisco including Michael Mina, Aqua, Tadich Grill and more. San Francisco has a number of great fine dining options. Here are just a few of my favorites:

Michael Mina: Japanese Food with a French Twist

A great San Francisco fine dining option is Michael Mina restaurant in Union Square. They recently relocated from the Westin St. Francis and are now at 252 California St., between Front and Battery Sts. This restaurant will make you want to come back for more. Reservations are required for dinner, so call early once your plans are locked.

When you walk up the stairs to check in for your reservation, you realize that you are in for a treat. Michael Mina serves American Cuisine and you can craft your meal by selecting one of their prix-fixe, three course dinner options.

I would provide you with more recommendations on what to eat while you were here, but everything is amazing. If you are staying in Union Square and want a great, high end meal, then Michael Mina is a great choice.

Boulevard: Great Wine Selection, Amazing Experience

Boulevard is another one of my San Francisco fine dining recommendations. This restaurant opened in the early 90s and is one of the most talked about restaurants in San Francisco.

Located on the corner of Steuart and Mission Streets, Boulevard is set up in a remodeled building from the late 1880s. This sets the ambiance for this fine dining establishment.

Again, there are a number of great options on the menu. They also have a number of great wines by the glass, half bottle and, of course, full bottle.

I'd recommend booking a table on Open Table for dinner. It's usually pretty busy and the tables fill up really quickly.

I'd highly recommend checking out Boulevard if you are looking for a nice evening out on the town. It's an easy walk or short cab ride from Union Square. You can also take any of the Muni options along Market Street.

Tadich Grill: A San Francisco Tradition

If you are looking for an old San Francisco establishment for dinner, then check out the Tadich Grill. It's one of only a handful of the old school, high end restaurants still open in and around the Financial District San Francisco.

This restaurant originally opened in 1849 and still serves both lunch and dinner. This is also a more reasonably priced San Francisco fine dining option. You'll also want to come dressed in business casual attire.

This is one of the great San Francisco seafood restaurants with a few other specialties such as steak on the menu. There are a number of great options to choose from and I've always enjoyed everything I've tried.

The Tadich Grill is close to Union Square and is a quick cab ride or walk away. It's located right next to Aqua at 240 California Street near Battery.

They don't take reservations, so you should plan on waiting for a while during the busiest hours of the day.

Aqua: Mouth-Watering Seafood, Currently Relocating

While I did have this as one of my top recommendations for fine dining, Aqua is currently closed as they seek a new location for their restaurant. I'll keep you posted on their progress and provide details on their new location once it is announced.

These are just some of the great San Francisco fine dining restaurants and are just some of my favorites. Here are some other restaurant recommendations:
